Christmas in Denver

LINCOLN

The moment I see Willow I know she is the woman I need in my bed, in my life, forever. The only problem is the douche she’s meeting at the club where I work, Aces. There have been some sketchy things happening at the club and there’s no way I’m letting anything happen to my girl.

She’s all curves I want to wrap around me and a smile I want to see every day. When she needs to be rescued, I’m right there. I’ll protect her and then I’ll make her mine.

Finding her is the best way to start the new year. I’m more than happy to snuggle up with her and keep her safe.

The moment I meet my date for the night, I know it’s going to be a bust. He’s the kind of guy I avoid and has put me off dating, but I decided I was going to try again this year and stick to my resolution. I should have known it wasn’t going to go well.  It would have been better if I stayed outside to flirt with the bouncer, Lincoln. 

Dad bods make my mouth water and Lincoln would be great to cuddle up with in front of a fireplace. I feel him watching me all night, making me feel safe…and other things. When he saves me from my date, I don’t remember much, but I know what my heart feels. He’s it for me.

I’ve  grumbled and sneered about doing the food for a Valentine’s Day speed  dating event at Aces since the moment I was told about it.  It seems  like a horrible way to meet someone.  How can you make a connection in  five minutes?

When I do one more check to make sure everything is  ready for the break in the middle of the event, all my protests fly out  of the window.  I don’t need five minutes to make a connection, all I  need is one glimpse of her.

Watching her talk with other men has  me on edge.  It’s only a matter of time before I can make my approach.   Then I’ll make her mine.  She’s going to learn there are some perks to  dating a chef and I’ll be doing a lot more than dating Paisley.

To  say I was resistant to the idea of MatchMakers Inc. speed dating event  would be an understatement.  My best friends talked me into it.  I  couldn’t argue with shaking up my love life and I did make a New Year’s  resolution.  Everything else is going so well, but when it comes to love  it’s been one mistake after another.

Spending my Valentine’s Day  at the event instead of on my couch eating ice cream and watching  romance movies doesn’t sound like a good time to me, but I promised I’d  give it a try.  I’m skeptical about the whole thing and I don’t feel a  spark with any of the participants, but I’m determined to see the night  through.

I’m not expecting a man to set his sights on me.  He’s  not even part of the event, but I can’t deny there’s something about  him.  With the way he looks at me and the way he makes me feel?  Dating  is not where this relationship ends, not even close.

I didn’t join my best friends in their resolutions to get their love lives on track this year. Finding a man has never been my problem. Now, finding the right one? That’s a whole other story.

I’ve been keeping my resolution this year close, not even sharing it with my friends, and it has nothing to do with men. This year is all about me and what makes me happy. A man has never been able to do that.

I should have known the moment I decided to be all about me and not let a man into my life one would be dropped in my lap. All I was supposed to do was help Lincoln design the perfect engagement ring for my bestie, Willow. I had no idea I’d meet Holden.

Now my resolution is crumbling, but I think I’m okay with it. There might be enough room for me and love this year.

HOLDEN

The Pink Collar Temp Agency has allowed me to connect with clients and make a name for myself in Denver with my jewelry. My dream is to have my own shop and every customer I gain gets me one step closer. Still, it’s a long way off.

I learned a long time ago that women only see the sparkling things I can give them instead of me. Maybe I’m jaded, but my experience doesn’t lie. I didn’t expect everything I thought I knew about love to be upended with one client meeting.

Coral is more beautiful than any gem I’ve put in a setting. It’s a good thing the engagement ring my customer wants to design isn’t for my woman because I hate to lose a sale. She’d be worth it though.

I’ll show her I’m the man for her and the ones who let her down in the past aren’t worth another thought. We’re diamonds in the rough, but I know just how to make us shine.
